Social business is a fairly new term in the industry but it’s certainly growing in popularity due to the evangelism of many executives, agencies and consultants. Sandy Carter, Vice President of Social Business Sales and Evangelism at IBM is certainly one of them. She just released her book, Get Bold: Using Social Media to Create a New Type of Social Business which is available on Amazon and I just ordered it. Recently, she was interviewed on Forbes where she gives very strategic advice on how to build a social business and discusses important organizational initiatives like measurement, hiring talent and employees using social media. And, she also hosts a Youtube video series called IBM Social Business Coffee Break where she spends 2 – 3 minutes in each video simplifying social business. Alistair Rennie, IBM‘s general manager for social business is also spreading the social business gospel. It’s clear that IBM is ahead of the curve when it comes to social business adoption. In fact, they are leading the way! See the IBM case study for more information on how “social” IBM really is.
Here is Sandy in action talking about the difference between social media and social business.
